A team of two from Scott Parnell in Witham will be taking on a road-trip rally and driving hundreds of miles across Europe in an old banger to raise funds for three charities – The Rainy Day Trust, Variety, and The Teenage Cancer Trust.
Steve Parnell, who is managing director of the civils and drainage supplies specialist, along with his colleague Mel Windard, will wear fancy dress while travelling in a car worth no more than £500 decorated in a theme of their choice.
The charity event, which is called The Pavestone Rally, is organised by natural stone and hard landscaping company Pavestone. Starting out at Reims in Northern France on Wednesday 5th September, the four-day rally route, which includes various challenges for teams to complete along the way, will take the intrepid travellers through Stuttgart in Germany, Salzburg in Vienna and into Venice, before finishing at the beautiful setting of Lake Como in Italy.
Steve Parnell said:
"This will be our second entry into the Pavestone Rally, which is always fun and full of laughs. We get more adventurous with our outfits at each event and this year is no exception. I'm sure we'll raise a few eyebrows when we reveal our choice at the starting line. Of course, the main reason for taking part is to raise funds for the fabulous charities. We're hoping as many people as possible will support us and our efforts so we can really make a difference to those in need."
